| Jardiniere is a "found object" creation. In this case the objects were not found, they were generously donated by kind friends. The heavy angular pieces in the base were originally part of a bridge. Friends own a machine shop, and these pieces were headed for the scrap pile. They offered them to us, and we are glad they did. The cast iron "flowers" were also donated by friends. They were the spin on locks for a weight lifting bar. They were no longer "pumping iron" and asked if we had use for them. We were not sure at the time, but as we love "found objects" we graciously accepted them. The ring and the upright was given to us by Mel, who is my mentor and a wonderful sculpter. We have a studio full of "found objects", and when they "speak" to us, a creation is born. |
